Spring Steelhead

With Spring comes the arrival of Chrome Winter Steelhead to the Skeena Region. There are numerous rivers in the Region that boast healthy populations of spring fish such as the Kitamat, Kalum and Copper which are of the more well known rivers; and for good reason. These rivers have a reputation for providing a quality angling experience with out fail every season. There are many other rivers known only to the few that fish them, that provide the perfect balance of beauty, seclusion, and knuckle busting Steelhead action. FFW guests will have the opportunity to visit several different rivers during their stay, as every one of our chosen rivers offers a truly unique angling experience. Steelhead in the region range anywhere from 8-25 lbs, and every single cast possesses the potential to take a fish that could exceed that mark. We start fishing by the second week in March and continue right on into may until the snow covered mountains begin to melt and the rivers begin to silt up from run off. Anglers choosing to visit during the months of April and May, will also have a legitimate shot at numerous fresh Chinook as well, while targeting steelhead. Chinook range in size from 15-50 lbs. There are many successful techniques for catching winter steelhead, though our method of choice is to take them on the swing. In our opinion there is nothing that compares to the volatile grab of a fresh winter Steelhead that is still covered in sea lice. Those of you that are new to Spey casting can learn all of the techniques required to be successful on the water in no time at all, by one of our fff certified casting instructors. They are the best in their field and are eager to share their knowledge. Our winter Steelhead programs consists of a complete full service lodge package, which includes everything except your license and airfare to Terrace. Our guide client ratio is 2 -1 and our max occupancy is 4 people per week.
